A Solution for Your Toothache

The Problem with Lingering Tooth Pain

It’s not normal to experience tooth sensitivity when eating or lingering tooth pain throughout the day. In almost all cases, this toothache is a sign that infection has damaged the inside of your tooth and will continue to cause discomfort or even noticeable, sharp pain that will not resolve on its own. A root canal may be all that is needed to resolve your chronic tooth pain! We offer endodontics treatments in our multiple dental practices in Florida using specialized techniques to ensure your comfort and safety during the procedure. Pain-Relieving Endodontic Treatments

1

Root Canals

Root canal therapy at Riverdale Dental Associates involves removing a portion of the tooth crown to gain access to the pulp chamber and clear out all the infection, bacteria, and damaged pulp and tissues. Disinfecting and cleaning the canals is the next step before filling them with a hardening material call gutta-percha. The tooth will then be sealed to keep bacteria from entering the chamber and root canal and covered with a dental crown to ensure it remains strong and functional after treatment.

2

Apicoectomy

Apicoectomy surgery is recommended when a tooth with a previous root canal still has a residual infection at the tooth root. A minor procedure, root end surgery involves removing the tip of a tooth’s root to prevent further damage or extraction. During treatment, the dentists gain access to the tooth root, then the root tip is removed, and the root canal is cleaned and sealed to block further infection.

3

Endodontic Retreatment

When a root canal is not successful or other complications arise, endodontic retreatment provides a second chance at saving a natural tooth. During the procedure, the dental crown and filling material are removed, and the inside of the tooth is evaluated and cleaned. The new filling is added to seal the tooth, then the existing or new dental crown will be attached.
